About Edward Karpman, M.D.
Dr Edward Karpman is a board certified
urologist and one of the few urologists in
California who is fellowship trained to perform
vasectomy reversal. Only 1-2% of urologists
nationwide hold this distinction in training. He
is the founder and medical director of the
California Vasectomy and Reversal Center. His
advanced microsurgical training and
experience have allowed him to develop one of
the busiest vasectomy and reversal centers in
Northern California.
Dr Karpman grew up in Southern California.
He attended college at the University of
California, Davis where he graduated with
Honors in Biological Sciences. He went on to
medical school at the University of Vermont
where he was awarded the James Demeules
surgical research award and scored in the top
5% of all medical school graduates in the
nation on his medical board exams. He
completed his urologic surgery training at the
University of California, Davis Medical Center
where he received several awards for his

then awarded a prestigious fellowship in Male Reproductive Medicine and Surgery at Baylor
College of Medicine/Texas Medical Center in Houston, Texas. There he specialized in Male
Infertility, Microsurgery and Male Sexual Dysfunction. Dr Karpman has performed over
1,000 vasectomies, vasectomy reversals, sperm retrievals and other microsurgical
procedures. Dr Karpman has authored numerous articles on the subject of urology and
male infertility and serves as a reviewer for The Journal of Urology and the Asian Journal of
Andrology. Dr Karpman is co-author of the chapter on Techniques of Sperm Retrieval in
the textbook, Infertility in the Male, 4th Edition.
Dr Karpman enjoys spending time with his two children. In his spare time he enjoys the
outdoors and traveling.
